Overflowing fish tank

Nope, this has nothing to do with robotics and is certainly under the "something else" category.  But with things like an etchant tank and infrared therapy device in this area I figured I could post it, because it is very DIY.  This project started when I saw a ZeroEdge aquarium at my local Aquarium Adventure, and had to have one.  I knew I couldn't afford a real one, so tried to make due with a typical glass fish tank.  With my first attempt I built a plexiglass box which supported the tank and formed both the trough for water and an enclosure for a secondary tank below (known as a sump.)  This soon warped because it had to support the tank, and I discovered the obvious, that water weighs a lot.  My newest design shown here is a massive improvement.  The tank sits almost level with the counter, only a small black trough is below.  Water actually flows underneath the tank to the back drain and then down to the sump.  My current sump is just a plastic tub, but this setup is flexible, and I could even use a bucket placed a few feet out of the way as a sump and it would still work.  In my video I walk though what I've done to keep the setup quiet and flood-proof.

A thing of beauty

Great work taking one of those trimless acrylic tanks to the next level. I’ve never seen a real ZeroEdge aquarium but I’m satisfied with yours

Very nice, My wife had some

Very nice, My wife had some fan-tail guppies at one point. Watch out for “jumpers”.   :stuck_out_tongue:

That is really cool!

It’s awesome, nice work
