Orange Light blinking on Litter Robot 3

Hi!

I require your help regarding a problem I’m encountering.

My Litter Robot 3 has developed an orange flashing light - once per second. If I press the reset button nothing happens. I have checked that there is no litter under the globe and also removed the bonnet - checked the anti-pinch pins and replaced this. The light is still blinking.

Previous to this I had to turn the robot on and off several times to complete the final cycle - before it stopped rotating all together.

Last September I replaced the anti pinch pins and I have also checked and cleaned these. I have also checked that the black key is in the correct position and the bonnet also.

Thank you so much in advance for your help!

Hello @Foxyflugel,

Welcome to RobotShop community.

We are sorry to hear that you are having trouble with your Litter-Robot.

Please provide us with your order number or a copy of the invoice.

The slowly blinking yellow light is related to the bonnet and its connection with the base.

Please test if the night light is interrupting your cycle. Cover the light sensor which is located under the power button. If the night light turns on and the cycle is interrupted, then your bonnet needs to be replaced.

It is possible that the night-light is not even working, in this case, please remove the power from the robot and unclip the bonnet. Inside the bonnet, you will see 2 wires connected to a small circuit. Make sure the wires are well connected to the circuit.

If that is working fine, then the problem is probably with the connection between the base and the bonnet. Have a look at this video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EyUuSGSgn1A&t

Also, there are two connection metal pins between the base and bonnet. Some customers use WD-40 to clean them to make better contact: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Vzw1KIQj2_M

You can also try to deactivate the nightlight using this blog while pointing your phone’s flashlight at the light sensor located above the “Cycle” button:

Please tell us how this goes.

Sincerely,

Hi

Thanks for your prompt reponse.

My order number is 1500054208 - I replaced the DTI sensors and the anti-pinch pins and at the time, this resolved the problem.

The night light is working - however, I am unable to do your recommended test as when I switch my robot on the orange light is blinking and it fails to rotate.

Thanks

Hi Ebram

Thanks for your reply.

I have spent several hours over the last two days attempting to fix this problem.

This includes cleaning all the connectors thoroughly and ensuring the wires are connected firmly - I have done so for the clips in the top of the bonnet, the base connectors and the anti pinch pins and connections so these are all ok. I don’t really wish to spend more time unscrewing the LR and then putting back together until I receive another reply for possible soltuions.

I am still getting the slow blinking orange light.

Could you please resolve as I am throughly dissappointed in the LR3 and have several cats that now have an extremely expensive manual litter tray!

Thanks

Hello @Foxyflugel,

Thank you for your reply.

Are there any black spots on the bonnet and the base pins?

You can finally remove the circuit board and check if there’s some dust covering the light sensor located beneath the “Power” button.

Awaiting your reply.

Sincerely,

Hi Ebram

Thanks for your reply.

There were a cuple of ittle spots but I sanded them and cleaned them all.

If you have any copper wire you can connect between the bonnet and base to verify the connection of the pins and see if the yellow blinking light would stop or not.

Also, did you clean the light sensor on the circuit board as instructed?

I have checked the circuit board and dusted it - also the sensor in the top of the bonnet and the light is still flashing. Where do I place the copper wire please?

I have attached a photo of the bonnet pins.

If you open the base, you’ll see that the two pins are connected to two red connectors, you’ll put any copper wire in them and let the other end touches the pins on the bonnet and see if the yellow light would stop blinking or not.

Hi Ebram

I’ve tried this and it worked! So what do I need for parts?

Thanks so much for your help.

Hello @Foxyflugel,

Perfect!

In this case, you would need base and bonnet pins replacements.

These pins are not listed on the website but we can forward you to our internal system to help you order them.
