Optimum Controller selection

We are using a 12V DC brush motor with planetary gear (721:1 ratio) for high torque.
It needs to be controlled in both directions.
We want to stop the rotation as quickly as possible at an end point location in each direction. The output is rotated 90 degrees in each direction .
It has a relative, Quadrature encoder magnetic hall effect type .

Which controllers would you recommend for the application?

We started the design with simple Push buttons for each direction and limit switches. We discovered the output shaft coasted after de-energizing for almost 30 Degrees after power removed.

Hi,

The Sabertooth Dual 12A 6V-24V Regenerative Motor Driver with the Self-tuning Kangaroo X2 Motion Controller could be a good choice for this application.
Please make sure that your DC Gear Motor doesn’t consume more than 12Amps. If so, you can use the 32Amps version.
