One or two batteries?

I recently purchased a Lynxmotion Phoenix hexapod and had a question on power. The assembly guide doesn’t really address batteries and power very well, so I’m a little uncertain. I bought the complete kit, and it came with two NiMH batter packs. However, the assembly guide shows only the one power connection being installed via the switch.

Is the second battery a backup? Or, do 18 servos require two power sources? I have the jumper installed for VL=VS2.

Thanks!

We don’t include battery packs in combo kits. Did you purchase from someone else?

What are the specs of these battery packs?

The order was placed by the branch head, I was told only the kit was ordered. They must have chosen to order these as well, but separately.

1700mAh, 7.2v, NiMH. I’m not a battery guy so these are the only numbers I can remember from the package without having it in front of me.

Assuming you mean this battery, you’re only going to be able to fit one of them in the body of the Phoenix anyway. I would also recommend looking into getting a 6v regulator. The servos will take the 7.2v, but they’re not going to like it. They’ll be jittery and it will reduce the overall life of the servos.

I wondered about this when I unpacked them. Thanks for the input.
