I have been considering a concept. It’s a major change in what we have been doing. I am looking into making a special set of brackets that will accept these taller non standard servos. The idea is to make an ASB-04X Where the X means it’s taller, capable of taking larger servos. We would make a long, short, and offset “C” brackets to go with them. The parts should integrate easily with the existing brackets. Because pretty much all OEM servos use the Futaba spline, I have already ordered a version of the HMSH-01 with the Futaba spline. 8) Because the Futaba round horn isn’t a perfect fit for the existing brackets, we can soon add the Futaba line to the SES as an added benefit.
I am looking for CAD drawings, pdf is best, for any decent servo that is larger than the standard Hitec servos. I was pointed to a servo made by a place called Savox. They look to be very well made. I will base my X brackets to fit them. Any other similarly sized servo will be added if they can. If anyone knows of any possible servos for consideration, please post the dimensions. 8)

Savox servo are making Align servo for helicopter. Anyone who is in helicopter will understand.
They make very good servo.
I have a t-rex 500 with align (savox made) on it and it’s fast and centering is perfect.
These are the Turnigy servos. So far, I have been a big fan of Turnigy everything since I have been using several of their products in RC and they don’t seem to disappoint (manufactured in China WITH quality control, what a nice change! )
I really would love to see these servos hit the US market more. They are one of the biggest bangs for the buck, and from what I’ve read so far, they are far more quality than the blue bird or the tower pro (pure junk IMO)…
If you click on each servo, there is a mechanical dimension of each servo…
The one that I really like are the HV-300 and the HV-767. They seem like the ticket to make the SES Humanoids to be monsters just like when it’s outfitted with the HSR-5990TG.
Don’t get me wrong though, I’ve only dabbled with the Turnigy stuff, the Hitecs are still my favorite since they have been a proven, reliable, high quality servos…
The other servo that I really like are the DS1015 from Ace Hobby/Team Associated. This is my FAVORITE servo and the ONLY one that I use in all my RC cars. Plenty of torque, metal geared, FAST transit times… Torque of 201 oz/in and transit time of 0.108!!!
Both the ACE Hobby and the Turnigy stuff uses the Futaba splines…
The problem with this is Turnigy and Hobby King are the absolute worst thing to happen to the hobby industry. I looked into carrying these servos, and other equipment from them. There is no discount. Your price is the same as my price no matter the quantity. Can’t buy from them and sell to my customers at 0 profit… Won’t it be fun when there are no hobby stores in your city. Nothing but Chinese hobby stores on the internet. They pay their labor $0.10 a day man…
That’s the one thing that I found odd about Turnigy stuff too. Hobby King seems to be the only people in the world that carries them… I can’t even find a homepage for Turnigy, so “Turnigy” maybe just a brand label that Hobby King uses? That would be my guess…
I guess the main problem is that Hobby King is a store front, they don’t want to get into the distribution game, so they don’t want other hobby shops to compete against themselves? Makes no sense. You sell at a discount so that someone else (distributors) can take on the burden of holding onto inventory…
For the slightly taller servos (475 replacement) you could also just supply small 1/32" thick spacers. This should work for the ASB-13 as well as the ASB-04 from what I can tell.
Did you go to a different supplier for the HMSH-01 parts? Last ones I bought were a little different, and loose on the splines. I would like to see a version of them for the futaba R/C servos.
Same place just the normal tolerances in manufacturing. The saving grace is they are fine when tightened down aggressively. As for the Futaba splined aluminum servo horn. Here it is…
Looks like hobbyking is now supplying products under their own name. Probably not the grade of the Turnigy servos, but might be useful depending on how well they work. Below is a big servo that might be interesting.
