No suction from Centroform EZFORM LV 1827 Vacuum Forming Machine

no suction from new Centroform EZFORM LV 1827 Vacuum Forming Machine. Using recommended shop vacuum. Is there some packing material that needs to be removed not that isn’t mentioned in the set up instructions. Barely draws a piece of tissue paper down

Hi @dpb and welcome to our forum.

Thank you.

@dpb Welcome to the RobotShop Community. No, there should not be any material in the base which prevents suction via the small holes. Can you verify the second input (either the electric pump hose or the vacuum hose) is not open? Can you also check that the pump is operating correctly (ex. it has been primed if applicable).

Note that the choice of vacuum will depend on many factors: the thickness and type of the material being formed, the shape itself (how intricate), the rate and volume of air being displaced (and how fast the material is allowed to cool).

It’s very odd the basic design is very simple. I have the a shop vac and a vacuum pump
hooked up but very little suction is happening. I’m trying to mold leaves for a diorama,
so the mold is only about an 1 1/2" thick and about 8"x 10" and i’m using .005 acetate
which is real thin but it’s not suctioning it down.

Do you know the specs of the shop vac you have? As you said, the design of the Centroform machines is pretty simple - a large box at the bottom with holes, and a heater at the top. Do you have a good seal where the tube connects to the machine? Try to look for anywhere that air would be entering the shop vac beyond the holes in the centroform. Also, might as well ask just in case - does your shop-vac have multiple settings and/or operates as a blower as well?
