Next Generation Open Source Educational Robot

If anyone is interested in supporting a great open source educational robot project, then please check out my project below. I have already purchased the injection mold tooling that will produce the robot’s body and plan to sell these kits on my website. I am trying to use Kickstarter as a means of generating initial revenue to ease the burden of seeding stock. This robot is fully open source and I will share mechanical drawings, electrical designs & schematics, plus any software that I develop.

Apeiros is entirely open source with respect to hardware and software, so you can customize everything. You can get a gripper version of this robot for $99 if you get in on the early bird special.

Thank you in advance for taking the time to check out my robot http://forum.pololu.com/images/smilies/icon_biggrin.gif

Best of luck with the project! If you proceed with manufacturing and have included acceptable distributor margins, feel free to contact RobotShop and we’ll be happy to look into distributing the product.

Coleman, thank you for the offer to distribute Apeiros! I have done my best to build in margin, but have not had the opportunity to setup distributor pricing structures based upon quantity. Once I have my pricing in place, then I will be sure to contact you. I will be releasing with the STMicroelectronics Nucleo board and my custom motor & sensor shield, but plan to develop for the Raspberry Pi and other popular boards.

Just picked up the very first parts off my mold tool. There are a few minor dimensional & cosmetic issues that need to be resolved, but overall the parts look great! Keep in mind that the mold tool has not yet been polished. Here is a picture of the first 6 parts.

Here is a picture of the top & bottom side-by-side.
