Newbie motor control question

Hi, I need a very simple 1A DC brushed motor controller with forward and reverse, no speed control required. It looked to me like the RB-Pol-110 dual motor controller might do the trick. My question is: can I control the motors with simple mechanical switches on the inputs, without having to provide a PWM signal? Also, any suggestions on IR remote control would be very helpful.

Hi Adrian,

If you are looking to control DC motors without speed control (just max speed), you don’t really even need a motor controller - just a DPDT switch which can handle enough current. The Pololu Dual DC Motor Controller, as low cost as it is, is really intended for speed control, and for use with a microcontroller.
