Newbie Lynx 209

A friend has agreed to help me with the project; programming, etc. If I were to go with the Lynx 209 plans, around how much would I need to budget for? Could I use R/C with this?

Any info is appreciated.

Thanks.

The Lynx209 should be in the neighborhood of the Scout kit, which is $840.00 without electronics. The easiest way to control it would be with the SSC-32, a bluetooth modem from SparkFun and a PC running Sequences. You can also replace the PC with a microcontroller of your choice. Hope this helps.

Thanks a lot for the info, Robot Dude. I’ve always been fascinated with robotics, but this is the first time I’ve been close to being able to afford the servo’s to build one.

I picked out all of the brackets I need from looking at the picture. This is what I’ve come up with, but not sure it could support all of the weight:

8 short “C” brackets
6 multi purpose brackets
2 long “C” brackets
2 dual inline brackets
2 ankle brackets
Lynx 209 Chassis

Bluetooth Modem - BlueSMiRF Silver
SSC32 Servo Controller
SSC32 Sequencer software
12x HS5645 Servo’s
Wiring Harness - Battery Connector
6.0 Volt Ni-MH 1600mAh Battery Pack
2.4 - 7.2vdc Ni-CD & Ni-MH Universal Smart Charger

Is this all I would need to get started?

I think you are missing 2 of the ASB-11’s…

From the picture of the 209, all I can see are two Aluminum Offset Servo Bracket (ASB-11) at the top where the hip attaches to the legs. Am I missing something? Why do I need 3 of them? Wish there were plans for this thing!

I meant 2. Hey, it’s Monday… :frowning:

Thanks a lot. Yeah, I got confused between the Scout legs and Lynx 209 legs, which the majority of difference is in the offset bracket (ASB-11). I forgot to add them to my list after I decided the Lynx 209 chassis and leg configuration looked cooler.

I appreciate your patience with me.

So I’m looking at around $190-$200 or so for the chassis and brackets, and then around another $650-$700 or so for the servo’s, SSC controller and software, and bluetooth board. Whew, my GF is going to kill me. ROFL.

I wish I worked at your place of business. I’d build robots all day.

Yeah, oh the bitter irony. The business has become so successful that I have very little time to play anymore…

So you need to hire people to play for you and live vicariously, right?
:stuck_out_tongue:

Um, well… yeah I guess.

Would it be possible for you to post the model numbers of these parts? I’m trying to add them to my cart but these part descriptions are kind of vague…

I know I need:

1x ASB-11 - Aluminum Offset Servo Bracket with Ball Bearings Two Pack
1x BT-02 - Lynx 209 Biped Torso
1x Bluetooth Modem - BlueSMiRF Silver
1x SSC-32 - SSC-32 Servo Controller
1x SEQ-01 - SSC-32 Sequencer
1x WH-01 - Wiring Harness - Battery Connector
1x BAT-03 - 6.0 Volt Ni-MH 1600mAh Battery Pack
1x USC-01 - 2.4 - 7.2vdc Ni-CD & Ni-MH Universal Smart Charger

(are these correct?)

The parts I am unsure of:

8x - short “C” brackets
6x - multi purpose brackets
2x - long “C” brackets
2x - dual inline brackets
12x - servos

Any help would be appreciated!

Thank you guys in advance!

Hope that helps…

Yes, perfect! Thank you Robot Dude!

Sorry to bring up an old thread, but any chance to get parts for the Lynx 209 in Lexan like this picture shows?

I don’t see any bracket listings for Lexan… :frowning:

The aluminum bracket version is superior in every way. The chassis is still lexan though.
