Hi I have a brushless motor question - that I will keep simple. I am looking to operate a DC brushless (rc style) motor with a three speed switch. Is this possible? Thanks Dan

In theory, it is possible to do such thing.
The brushless motor will need a brushless motor controller (ESC) and this one can be connected to a Microcontroller.
A 3 way switch connected to that Microcontroller can than trigger different outputs to the ESC from it’s programmed software.
Example of Microcontroller that could be use with such project:
Arduino Uno USB Microcontroller Rev 3
Going that way, you could have either a PWM R/C type ESC:
Lynxmotion 12A Multirotor ESC 1A BEC (With Connectors)
Or go with a dedicated unit for Microcontroller:
Veyron 5A Brushless Motor Controller
