Newb servo brat question

Hey folks real newb here … I am getting ready to pick up a BRAT kit … How much of a difference is it for me to start with the HS422 servos verse the 475’s?

Should I just upgrade to the 475’s right from the start?

Do yourself a favor and upgrade to the HS4-75HB servos. You will thank yourself! The difference in cost (not that much) for the difference in performance (quite a bit) is well worth the upgrade.

The 422 servo is the bare minimum. It’s a great servo, but it has one bad property. It can oscillate when a bit if a mass is attached to it and left hanging. In fact the ball bearings used in the brackets only help this oscillation. The kit with 422 servos works great for walking and stuff. The videos on the website are using them. But if the robot is standing on one leg, things can get a little unwieldy. Best to get the 475 upgrade if at all possible.

Thanks for the quick response!!!

I last quick question does the lit come with the NiMh in the pictures or do I need to order that seperate when I place my order on line?

No batteries are included with any of our kits. That way you can choose which batteries/chargers you’d like.

The battery/charger recommended for the BRAT is located in the top portion of the page, under “Powering Options”:
