Hey guys. I dont see a new members welcome thread so I guess Ill post here…
I’m a sculptor and mold maker. I also love robots. I started to build a hexapod robot years ago from legos but unfortunately ran out of money. Even today I have no money to make a robot but badly want to make a quadruped robot very similar to Iron Wolf. Ive never seen such smooth motions in the legs nor have I seen realistic walking cycles like that before aside from Asimo from honda. I know nothing about programing but have some lego mindstorms stuff in a box somewhere but again have no idea what I am doing.
My goal is to make a medium sized dog robot using “Electronic Actuators” and have it move as fluidly as “Iron Wolf” that and it will have a gyro that will have it counter its balance if its on unsteady ground or if it gets bumped.
How I will bulid it…
I have lots of plastic so I wil probably cut out some forms to hold stuff. I also can get some wood scraps and see what I can do but I know its overdoing it when I dont have any real knowlege about robot design. I was originally thinking of taking an actual animal skeleton replica and adding hinges and such to it and mounting the actuators to it. I was thinking maybe 2 inch actuators for the muscles and possibly a cable system. My dad is a machinist so he can make some parts but again I have no idea where to start…
