Ok Kurt and Xan have asked me to take another look at the “snap switch” ground contact tibia I was working on a while back. I spent the day working on this, and I’m pleased with the results. I’m building up a set for each of them and will make them real kits if the testing goes well. Here is a pretty unrevealing look at what I have done. It will work on the T-Hex 3DOF and 4DOF. It’s only 0.75" longer than the stock tibias for these bots. I have abused it for quite a while and it keeps on working. Here it is.
Pretty cool! This should be fun!!!
Kurt
very snug. will look forward to seeing this in full on a hex. 8)
any more pix?
New switch design?

Looks very interesting Jim!
The straight and SES compatible design makes it much more universal in use.
Good work
… and as many of these at passed out to the market, and all intelligent people (that is, a LOT more intelligent then me) start using the input in their coding, i am looking forward to a lot more TA (terrain aware) coding here on the forum … as i am having great problem on that part…
Hi Jim,
Awesome work. I think this leg wil work pretty good since the length of the tibia and femur are much more alike then the onces on the hybrid prototype. Sure sounds like fun to try out the new design! Thanks for looking in to this!
Xan
There you are! lol
Yeah I had every intention of doing this, just had a lot on my plate for a while.
ok well the next question is… Availability?
SS-5GLT switch.
50 grams SW, with lever arm.
Yes, I like the use of the Omron microswitch! (Digikey SW143-ND).
I just worked out a design for some “whisker” switches on the front of a 'bot for the HBRobotics robot class (Cherry E61-00K microswitch).

Soon…
looks like i have to test these out… yay.
Realy nice way to track the ground.
I was looking to buy T-Hex legs. But i will wait for that…
Yep these look pretty foolproof for even someone like me
Can not wait to get these and try it out and get busy on TA stuff again.
Or me
Got the parts cut on the laser today, and Beth has them all prepared for building. James is starting the build and I will try to help. We should have them completed in the next day or two.
Wow…!
That’s fast
Think im going to have to build up my T-hex type quad again (A.x.i.s).
i hope they perform better that the previous ones i tested.
The tube adapted ones looked great but were a bit temperamental.
looking forward to these bad boys.
Kurt, Jeroen…
Black legs, black body or black legs, clear body, all anodized, what say you?
