Hi Folks!
So not to long ago I bought myself the MAH-3 Hexapod robot. Managed to get it all set up and working fine. But one thing that always bothered my was the PS2 receiver kept loosing connection to the breakout board. Tried cleaning it, soldering, but it would loose connectivity if the bot made a sudden movement.
Later I heard a friend of mine mention the PS2 Controller V3 was out. So I ordered it and now am trying to get it to work. I found Lynxmotion’s page PS2 Versions and Connections that explains about removing jumpers JA, JB, and JC, but leaving JU on. Simple enough. Unfortunately that didn’t seem to help. I even hooked up the old V2 version and it worked fine.
While the PS2 V3 is connected, I see the same behaviour as the V2. When the bot is on but the controller is off, the red light flashes on the receiver indicating its looking for the controller. Soon as I turn the controller on, it stops flashing and is solid on, indicating they’re connected.
My thoughts are maybe something needs to be changed in the PS2 controller library, but everywhere I look I can only find the same library versions I already have. Bill Porter’s site doesn’t have a new version either. The pins seem to be exactly the same for the V2 and V3, so I connected the V3 exactly the same way.
Has anyone else toyed with the V3 and noticed anything else different with it that might cause this? My programming skill is not at the level of reconfiguring the library, so if anyone knows of a bug that they have fixed that would be great. Thanks!
