New member says Hello.. :)

Hello all robot lovers…

My name is Rone, 24yr old and from Denmark…

I have since i saw the movie “Short Circuit” with Johnny 5, had a huge interest in robots. And that’s some years back for me…

I have drives r/c cars on competition plan for about 5 years, and recently ended that hobby because the interest wasn’t to it anymore. I have a dream of becoming an robotics engineer in the near future, so i thought it could be fun to start to get into the incredible world of robotics.

I have read allot on the this very great forum for some weeks now and bought some parts that I’m waiting to get delivered (i know it’s worth the wait, but i wish the time could fly i little faster  )

Even when i have made allot of research on your forum about the best beginners kit to buy, i put my love on a model I maby overshoot my experience with, but i hope with some help from all of you, and allot of time studying on the forum, that i can reach my goal in this fantastic world of robotics. And i would already now Thank all of you in advance, because many of you already have help me allot in the right direction. :astonished:

But now to what the crazy guy bought, and hopefully not totally overshoot my experience level… :unamused:

1 Biped Scout Kit BPS-NS
1 SSC-32 Servo Controller
1 Bluetooth Modem - BlueSMiRF Gold WRL-00582
12 HD-1201MG/9618 Power HD Metal Gear Servo 60g/12.2g/.16sec
1 TGY-ST/8296 Turnigy Servo Tester

I was very fascinated by the Scout and the 6 DOF it delivers.
I used allot of time reading reviews on high torque servos to reasonable value for the money, because i can’t afford Hitec’s at the moment, but i would have loved to use them, i have never used other that Hitec in my competition race r/c cars, and they have never failed on me. But back to the Power HD servos. They got i pretty good review from allot of r/c sites on the net, but i also found some that were complete horrible (TowerPro and other much cheaper)

I choose the servo controller in the first place, because I thought i needed to be able to get the thing moving before i want to make something autonomous, and correct me if I’m wrong, but ain’t it possible to use my laptop to simulate a micro controller, or has it something to do with other in/output’s on such a controller board… ? (sorry, but i started from scratch 2-3 weeks ago  )
I also bought the BlueSMiRF to get rid of the cable from the laptop. I have a 2.1 BT build-in my ThinkPad, and hope to could use that for the BlueSMiRF modem link.
And for last i bought a servo tester, because I sold the old one i had, and i know how handy it were when i was racing back in the days, so i thought that with so many servos, that it would be a great help for me if something should act totally crazy…

That was a little about me and what I’m hoping will give me many good and thoughtful hours at my desk over the winter…

I see forward to learn and listen to all that a willing to help me when everything jams up for me…

And again, a BIG Thanks in advance for all that have, and will help me in the future with my “little” project…

EDIT: I hope you’ll survive my bad English

Thanks Alan…

What’s your opinion about my buy. ?

Is it to much for a beginner, or what’s your opinion ?

That sounds pretty good for a start! Start slow, and work up!

Hi and welcome!
Glad to see someone from Danmark (we almost talk the same language, I’m from Norway  ).

I’ve no experience with the HD servos, just cross your fingers that they will fit the SES brackets.
I would also recommend the Visual SEQ software if you want to control the biped directly from PC, its a great program for making sequences.

Okay  Sounds good then heh.

I can’t start more slow, I’m at ground zero so to say…

Hey Zenta…

Yeah it’s close to the same language  I’ve been crossing my fingers since i’ve ordered them heeh  hopefully they will fit. Hmm haven’t unfortunately ordered the software :frowning: But it might be a good idea… I’ve read allot of good things about it.

I have to agree with zenta, the visual sequencer for the ssc-32 will make things 100x easier.
