New Lynxmotion Wheeled Rovers | RobotShop Community

Lynxmotion is well known for its high quality robotic construction kits, especially walking robots and robotic arms, but did you know the same modular SES system can be used to make wheeled rovers? Lynxmotion has recently released two new wheeled rover kits based on this principle: the A4WD2-KT and

I am completely new to robotics and have come to it out of a functional need. My dad is a bright, mentally active 81 year old. 4 years ago, he slipped on ice and fractured his right femur in 9 places. Surgery put his leg back together and he can stand but not walk very well. He has to use a walker which makes carrying things hard. He has compensated in many areas but working in the kitchen is hard. I want to build him a remote controlled carrying platform so he can gather the thingsthe needs to make breakfast from the refrigerator and cabinets and then drive it to his work station. I want a platform base that is approx 60mm x 18mm. Total weight capacity the base and motor would need to support would be 22 to 27 kilograms. I have many friends who could help build the device and I am bright and no afraid of learning, but I think it would be best to keep the project as simple as possible. Can you advise as to what I would need to create such a mobile, remote controlled platform? I would build the “body” of the carriage myself. What I need advise on is the material set for the mobile platform and remote control function. Any help would be appreciated.
