New Firmware

I have an older SSC-32 with version 1.03XE firmware. How do I download the new 1.06XE firmware to the device?

You should find links to download the new firmware for the SSC-32, and the latest is 1.06, on the SSC-32 product page. You will also need the Lynxterm software to upload the new firmware to the SSC-32.

The firmware downloads are available here.

Thanks guys. I had found the downloads before, but I didn’t know that I neede to use the LynxTerm software to put them on the SSC-32.

You can also use the Sequencer to update the SSC-32’s firmware. The information is on page 13 of the SEQ help file.

Sorry, I’m a total newbie here (my first post, actually).

I just got my SSC-32 and the paper manual that came with it says it has firmware 2.0 and the new 168 processor (thanks!). I do not see v2.0 listed in any of the firmware downloads, however.

After I get going here, I plan to replace the firmware with the latest version that can provide GP sequencer support.

So my questions are:

  1. does v2.0 provide GP support already?

  2. if I have to replace the firmware with the GP version, how can I restore the v2.0 firmware if I need to do so?

Thanks for your help!

The more accurate description of what you have is version 2.00XE. It includes the 168 processor and the latest version of the old mega 8 firmware ported over to it. There are two firmwares being developed right now. The 2.00XE will have register support for things like an autorun command string, servo startup positions, min and max position limits, servo offsets. It will likely be named 2.01XE or something like that.

The GP firmware is getting a complete rework. Mike had to do some tricky coding to get it to fit into the mega 8 processor, so it was difficult to work with to say the least.

When these versions are complete you will be able to download them for free. Note the GP firmware will require a serial EEPROM. We will be offering a preprogrammed mega 168 and eeprom on the website for upgrading older SSC-32’s as soon as the firmwares are complete.

Mike, do you know how much longer it will be for these files?
