Never used 2001 Roomba not working

I took a chance and bought a 2001 series Roomba never used and sealed in the box. Tried charging the battery overnight but it was dead. Got it to finally charge, but now the charger died. Battery reads 14.7 Volts. Installed it, but no green light when Start is pressed. I’m willing to dis-assemble the vacuum to check further for voltage but would like some advice first. Any comments or suggestions are greatly appreciated. BTW, I called the factory and they won’t repair it.
Thanks in advance for the help.

The robot battery has been sitting in the box without being charged for more than 10 years and can probably no longer keep a charge. Batteries do have shelf lives. We therefore recommend that you first start by replacing the robots battery. The battery can read a certain voltage but, when connected to the robot it drops and under a certain voltage the robot will not turn on.

What makes you think that the charger died? Have you verified the output voltage of the charger? It should read 22V. Do you see a solid green light on the charger when it is plugged?

Thanks for confirming. We do have replacement chargers available if you are interested.

Does the robot just turn in a tight circle in the same direction? If so, one of the wheel motor may be defective. The robot will usually keep backing up and turning when the issue is with a bumper or cliff sensor.

Issues with the virtual wall sensor will also not make the robot go backwards or turn in circles.

Hope this helps narrow down the issue.

The charger voltage reads 0 volts. I was however, able to charge the battery and the unit now powers up but constantly turns in a tight circle. My guess is that bumper or virtual wall sensors are bad.

Thanks for the reply.
