Neto XV11 - battery charge issues

Hi - my Neato XV11 started to act erratically (went in reverse, in circles etc). I bought a new motherboard from robotshop and installed it. But after that, I’d put the vacuum on the charger and after a few seconds it would say Battery Error message 0002. I installed a different pair of fully charged batteries from another Neato and it worked fine. So I bought new batteries, thinking the Battery Error message related to the batteries. However, after installing new batteries, and selecting ‘new battery’ from the menu, I’d put the vacuum on the charger and after a few seconds it would say ‘please open my dirt bin and push down to on’. Being an XV11, there is no switch? I’ve also tried to shut down. So I’m at a complete loss - it’s not the motherboard or the batteries, so what is it? Any help would be appreciated. Thanks.

Hi,

The problem you are experiencing is due to a connection between the charging station and the motherboard. It can be either caused by the battery connectors, the charging grate or the charging station. We suggest you to verify the pins on the battery connectors and make sure they are all perfectly aligned.

Also, the error can be caused because the batteries are too low voltage. Let the robot charge for a few hours and verify again.

Thanks - you were right.

I tried the following method that I saw on another thread: remove batteries, hold start button down for 30 seconds, and swap the batteries around. It worked. I suspect swapping the batteries around fixed the connection issue. I’m greatly relieved to see the neato running perfectly. Thanks again.

Hi - me again.

The neato worked fine for a couple of weeks. But then went back to the problem it had before I replaced the motherboard / batteries. That is - it would start off normally then after a short while would start reversing in circles until I turned it off. I’ve shut down the machine and it still does it. If I’ve replaced the motherboard and batteries, then can you suggest what may be causing the problem? Thanks.

Concerning the going in circle problem, this is caused by a bumper sensor. There should a triggered bumper sensor on your robot.

Open your Neato and make sure that all the black bumper arms are correctly installed before closing your robot. To verify that, press on the bumper and verify if all the bumper sensors (all four) are clicking correctly.
