Hi, I just bought the J5 base and I was wondering the best way to wire it up? I was thinking of running the motors with a standard 7.2 r/c batteries because that’s what the motors take and then I need to power the microcontroller board and the sensors. Is it best to have a battery dedicated to the motors and then one dedicated to everything else? I am going to be using the propellor proto board which I believe accepts from 6 to 9 volts. The microcontroller is going to be controlling the servo based pan and tilt kit which will have a wireless camera and possible a ping ultrasonic sensor mounted on it. I also plan to hook up a Xstream Xbee-Pro chip for wireless communications. Can anyone give me some suggestions? I haven’t boughten the batteries yet. Still trying to decide my best options. I’m excited about getting this thing up and moving around!
We used a 7.2vdc 2800mAh pack for the motor drive system (Sabertooth 2 x 5) and a 6.0vdc 2800mAh pack for the J5 torso. We also sell wiring harnesses to make it fast and easy to wire up.
