First off i am very new at this so if my questions seem dumb i am sorry.I am trying to make a doll with a turning head.I have been doing a lot of reading and figure the best way is a servo.Looking at Pololu Micro Maestro 6-channel USB Servo Controller because it seems like it is easy to program and has some plug and play options.I would like to have the head triggered with a motion sensor and if i could have one sensor left and one right so it would turn in either direction as you walk by.Im trying to keep it simple because im getting old and my brain hurts. My question is do you think this is the correct controller and could you recommend a servo strong enough to turn a dolls head mabee 2 or 3 pounds i would like to have the head fixed directly to the head with no linkage.any help would be appreciated also any ideas. Thanks for any help
A normal microcontroller can directly control the kind of servo you’re talking about, and also interface with the sensor. If you’re new to robotics, consider an Arduino microcontroller and a normal 422 servo. If you’re worried about the weight braking the servo, try the 645MG which has metal gears.
