Need powerful RFID tag LOCATOR, not a reader

I’m looking for a device that can locate passive RFID tags, but I don’t need really need to read the data on the tags.

I plan to use the device to locate my hearing aids when they go missing. The RFID tag would be very small (1.5 x 1.5 mm), and passive. The problem seems to be that most readers are not long range (or portable), and (as I mentioned above), I don’t really need to know what’s on the tag; I just need to know if I’m near or far from what I’m looking for.

It’s not a bad idea but unfortunately, we don’t have any portable long-range readers.

Also, any portable long-range reader in the market would be expensive.
