hello,
I have an idea for a project, but am new to all this and need help finding what I need for it. I have a kermit the frog stuffed toy, and I would like to make its head swivel and arm(s) move. I can build what I need for it, but need help with what servos, controllers etc. I have a 2.4ghz 4 channel rc remote i can use with it, if thats possible.
You essentially have everything you need except perhaps the servos (no mention in the post), brackets and a power source. The transmitter / receiver combo can control the servos directly. Do you want two degrees of freedom per arm or just one?
Consider using the Lynxmotion Servo Erector Set: lynxmotion.com/c-73-servo-erector-set.aspx
I do have servos, but arent standard servos kind of limited? Would a continuous rotation servo work with what i have? I would like for the head to be capable of turning 90 degrees either way. I think I would just like for one degree of freedom with the arms to start with… maybe switch to 2 on the next project. Thank you for the suggestion, btw
Standard servos rotate 180 degrees; your transmitter simply needs to be able to send a signal between 500 and 2500us. Continuous rotation servos (standard RC) don’t have positioning; you only control speed and direction.
well now, that is a useful bit of information. thank you. I did not know that about those servos, never even knew they existed until visiting this site… learning something new everyday, lol
