We’re working on building a robot that can navigate through a maze, locate a candle, and extinguish it as quickly as possible. The motor we currently have (shown in the attachment)is too slow for our needs. What do you guys recommend for a motor that would be fast enough for us, but not excessive? Our robot is about 2kg, and 25 cm long and wide.

Hi,
First, we recommend you to use this Drive Motor Sizing Tool. This tool can provide you the torque required per drive motor and total power based on information like total mass of the robot, number of drive motors, radius of the drive wheel, robot velocity, maximum incline, etc. After entering all the information required and obtaining the torque required to drive your robot at the velocity you need, you can take a look at our DC Motors comparison table and choose a motor that will fit your robot with the right torque rating and dimensions.
