Hello All,
I am utterly stumped at a current predicament for my Neato Robot and the unit has a relatively long history. I will try to summarize.
-I originally had a problem with the robot not moving correctly due to a seemingly stuck wheel. I took the unit completely apart for cleaning and inspection and put everything back together. No luck. I tried swapping motors around which seemed to indicate a problem with the driver controller and not the motor. So I assumed the board was shot and bought a new one.
-Well the flat cable for the LCD apparently started to not seat correctly in the slot and no matter what I did I could not get the LCD to work correctly. This is when I said F it to this design (which I thought was poor anyway) and instead upgraded to a “Binky” version board with the much more desirable ribbon LCD.
-Now that I have the Binky board I cant seem to get the unit to charge. I completely eliminated all other components. It seems I can power on the board from batteries but powering/charging from the barrel jack or the dock does not work. I am at a complete loss as to what is wrong. I even used a bench test power supply just to double check that something was not wrong with the power supply. Is some special DC/AC waveform required to turn the board on and start charging?
I have an FA05SLS1-02 charger which is rated for 24VDC at 2.5A (output). The bench power supply is rated up to 2A of output however I never saw this on the current meter.
The following video is the best way to explain. I really apologize for the crappy aspect ratio.
