Neato D7 Startup Issues

I have a Neato D7 that will not start cleaning. I took it all apart to find the laser turret and motor spinning freely and belt not slipping. Here is a video of the startup failure.

Any advice on further troubleshooting steps I can take before sending in for repair (out of warranty, so 3rd party repair shop)?

Hi @GoodyGizmos !

Have you bought it from RobotShop?

When was the last time you replaced a battery?

Did you try to clean the laser lenses by blowing air with a compressed air duster?

No, I bought it from Bed, Bath, and Beyond.

I replaced the battery last week.

Yes, I’ve cleaned the laser lens assembly with compressed air.

Hey @GoodyGizmos !

Thank you for your reply.

Have you maybe contacted Neato support already?

Yep, they kicked me to the curb with the names of a couple third party repair shops since I’m out of warranty.

Anyone else have a suggestion?

My guess is that RPS module or RPS motor should be replaced.

Is there a way to confirm that it’s the motor since I can’t see it when it’s all put back together?

What are the recommended parts for the D7 to fix it myself?

@igor_X I’ve taken it apart a few times, tried to swap the belt for a rubber band, and confirmed everything is completely clean. It’s still not spinning on startup.

Here’s a video showing the turret rotating freely - https://youtu.be/0TtfTihAtk0

Do you have any suggestions for how I could troubleshoot if I have a bad RPS module, motor, or something else?

Thank you,
Adam

@igor_X or anyone else, do you have any suggestions for my next steps to fix this issue? Thank you.

Hi @GoodyGizmos!

My only ideas is that you try sourcing these spare parts (for example RPS module) and then replacing one by one until you find the issue.

Sure. I came across Neato Toolio and am trying to figure out if I can isolate the issue to a single component and avoid ordering parts and the hassle of disassembly/reassembly each time.

That’s good. Inform us if you figure it out in the end.

I have the exact same problem @GoodyGizmos, please let me know what else you figure out!

@downhiller It’s a burned cable ribbon. Take a look here for a lot more information. Now that I know the issue, I’ll probably stick to posting updates on that thread.
