Neato Botvac Connected won't clean - starts, spins up, restarts 3 times then stops

I dropped it the other day, onto a hard floor from waist height. No visible damage on the outside, but that’s when this problem started. I noticed that the laser turret wasn’t spinning, so after a quick google came to the conclusion that the drive belt for it had slipped off. I’ve taken it apart though, and much to my dismay the belt was in place. I’ve checked all of the connectors and everything appears to be plugged together fine.

What’s the next port of call?

Thanks

I’ve ordered one of these on the offchance that that’s the issue, but a motor being damaged by a drop seems unlikely to me?

HI @downhiller and welcome to our forum!

We are sorry to hear about your problem with the robot.

Have you checked if the drive belt is working fine or it is slipping?

If that is OK, and if connectors are OK, then yes, replacement motor should solve it.

Doesn’t appear to slip, I can turn the motor pulley by hand and the turret turns.

OK that’s good. Let’s wait for the motor and then see what happens.

I had the same problem and the lidar motor was stuck so i used my arduino uno board and gave it 5 volts. It started spinning slow in the beginning and went back to full speed. After that i connected it to 3.3 volts and it worked perfectly. Problem is solved for me this way i hope it works for others

Hello.
I’m Luca from Parma, Italy
My “neato D7” stopped working as soon as the warranty expired.
It started but then the red light of the floor cleaning lit up.
In my case the problem was the optical sensor
If the robot works fine in manual mode the problem is almost certainly that.
Then you can check if the optical sensor is spinning.
If not, just disassemble and clean the drive belt.
If so, put some Teflon around the swivel head to increase grip.
I also had a friction problem that I solved with the WD40 after a deep clean.
