Neato BotVac 80 - several issues

Hi. I’ve recently got BotVac 80 from this store. Still trying to figure out if it’s good enough for my needs or not. So far (after 4-5 runs) I ran into couple of issues:

  • robot 4 out of 5 times robot got stuck on pretty much ‘plain’ terrain - once between stool legs and wall, with at least 1.5 length of robot available (it would just got 10-15 cm forward, sideways, backwards for about 2-3 minutes then give up, asking to clear the obstruction)
  • once obstruction is cleared (which very often means i had to lift robot and move it up to half a meter), it will resume, but it seems like it will start clearing the same areas he already cleaned
  • at the end, it will fail to return to the base (what it seems like it’s trying to return to the same spot it got stuck at instead)

On one occasion that the robot did not stuck, it didn’t finish cleaning the whole room and returned to the base to recharge. But after recharging it didn’t automatically resume. When i tried to start it again by pressing the ‘home’ button, it started clearing the rooms ‘from the beginning’ (ie, the same areas it already cleaned before).

Pls advise if it’s a faulty unit or whether firmware upgrade can help or if it’s just the way it is.

It can sometimes take a few cleaning cycles to optimize you cleaning area for a robot vacuum. It is suggested to look for areas where the robot gets stuck and move furniture slightly if needed for the robot to navigate properly. Once the rooms are optimized the robot should not have any issues cleaning your home.

The robot should move from one room to the other cleaning methodically and then return to the docking station to recharge once the battery is low or the cleaning is complete. Once recharged, it should return to where it left off in order to complete the cleaning.

It is possible that if the robot was moved during cleaning or was returned to the base with the menu or manually that the robot will not complete a cleaning cycle.

You can reset the robots program within the support menu and recharge the robot fully and try a new cleaning cycle with the furniture that causes issues removed or moved. The robot should then clean without issues.
