Neato Botvac 80 - doesn't clean completely any more

Hello,

I have had a Neato Botvac 80 (not the connected one) for a little over a year now. After the first three months, it would just stop in the middle of the carpeted part of our floor with the Error message 4000 “Please press okay to continue”. Pressing okay would generate another message saying the same. It never moved from that spot. I went to the neato website, did all that they recommended, what with cleaning, turning off, shutting down, soft reset, turning laser turret, cleaning laser sensors, cleaning the brush. Nothing has worked. Still stops in generally the same space, and doesn’t make it past 5 minutes of cleaning. I have somewhat rearranged furniture since getting the robot, but I figured a full hard restart would get rid of that. If anyone has any suggestions, I would greatly appreciate them. Thank you so much.

Dan

Hi Dan,

Is the carpet high pile or low pile?

It can happen if the carpet is high pile and the robot has problems navigating through it.

If this is a low pile carpet, you can reset the robot by holding the start button for 20 seconds.

Please let us know how it goes.

Hi Matheiu,

Thank you so much for that! It is a low pile carpet. I have tried the 20 second soft restart so far to no avail. It will move for another few minutes, then do exactly the same thing. I’m trying a hard restart, fully discharging the battery overnight. Hopefully that will help.

Thank you,
Dan

Hi Dan,

Thank you for your confirmation, if not it is likely the problem is caused by the laser sensor. If the robot is under warranty, we would suggest you to contact the reseller to proceed with an exchange.

Does is happening when the battery low or there’s no difference? If you fully charge the robot and manually put it on the carpeted area, does it work?

Sincerely,
