Nautic kart anti collision detection

Hello,

I want to add anti collision system for a nautic kart (little boat for 1 people)
the idea is to detect if another kart is near and avoid collision by reducing motor power,
LIDAR is a laser system, so is there a problem if some water appear on the housing of the detector ?
Is detection can be see as a bad detection ?
Because there is some jitter on the boat we have an idea to add inertial IMU coupled to the collision avoidance system (like LIDAR)

Perhaps RADAR is antother solution ?

Best regards
Christophe

Hello Christophe,

I think Lidar can work for your avoidance collision boats.

Take care that Laser sensors are Eye Safe. You are placing them into the public areas.

The drops of water in the sensors looks to me more a integration problem. You can integrate the sensors in different manners and avoid drops of water to stay.

Have a look to this sensor

It is Eyesafe, robust for industrial version and IP65. Maybe you can contact them

@SPINGEO Are you considering this for a single boat or small number of them, or are you associated with a manufacturer of these boats? The design approach is a bit different.
