Hallo, this is not confidential. I tried to post the question in the public forum, but I always got an error message. So I try it here:
I have a really strange problem with the 4-DoF-Lynxmotion arm. It worked good for several month, but recently - after a transport to another place - it was broken. I dont know whats happened, maybe some kind of electrical short. I thoroughly checked all possibilties. And the situation now is that:
All 5 motors (3 LSS-ST1 and 2 LSS-HT1) show exactly the same (wrong!) behaviour: They don’t send signals! They stopped talking to me! But they listen to all commands, they do all what they shall do. But all query commands are unanswered. Even after a factory reset via the button menu. Such as I send “#254QID/r” and nothing comes back.
The question now is: Could that be? Maybe a wrong voltage on the TX wire (all motors were connected in series)?

Hi Marbleman,
We’ve moved that to a public topic.
Sorry to hear you have an issue with our 4DoF Arm.
The first thing I would do is to test your LSS Adapter, to know if it’s still receiving data.
Here is a PDF and Software that our factory use to test the boards:
LSS Adapter - Testing Procedure.zip (1.3 MB)
If the LSS Adapter is not faulty, then I would connect the LSS Servos ONE BY ONE and try them with the LSS Config. Maybe one servo is defective which pull the RX line down so no servos can answer even if they are OK.
Let us know…!!

Hallo dialfonzo,
thanks for the answer.
In my application I don’t use the LSS adapter. Its more easy… TX and RX are directly connected with an Arduino RX and TX, and of course the ground also. And a 12V power supply is connected with + and ground of the motors. It always worked.
But OK, I just tested it with the LSS adapter. And of course - the loopback test was OK with 0 errors.
Then I run the LSS configuration software. After connecting with the COM port it says:
A servo is now selected: LSS-ALL (254; —k) [] :: ConfigReady = false
The selected servo is a meta-servo; it does not have configurations or telemetry
After scanning it says
Scan complete! Did not find any servos.
So what is a “meta-servo”? Can I reactivate it?

In this test, you only had One servo connected to the LSS Adapter ?
If so, you might have a real issue with your servos, try them all one by one.
The error is just saying you haven’t selected a servo but instead “254” which talk to Any servos connected.
When using #254… you can send commands where all servos will execute but you can’t do telemetry as they would all answer at the same time.

Hallo dialfonzo,
I think the problem is solved! One of the motors in the chain was faulty. I did a factory reset, and now all 5 motors do their job again.
Thank you, all the best!

I don’t understand, you mean one was faulty but have you been able to get it back running ?
