Figured I should make a thread about this… I’m kinda diving into the deep end here but I always like a challenge. This is my first robot aside from a sumo bot. Electronics has been a long time hobby of mine. I also have a fair bit of knowledge of servos, batteries and the like because I fly RC planes and helis, and race RC touring cars and buggies on a competitive level.
Anyway, here’s the scout.

It’s running an ARC-32, HS-5645MG servos, a Castle 10 amp BEC for a voltage regulator, and an 11.1 volt lipo that I stole from one of my planes until I decide on how big of a lipo to get specifically for the robot (I’m thinking about 1500mah 2S?)
Since I’m not very experienced or knowledgeable at all in the realm of programming, I have had some trouble getting it going. To help me along, I bought myself an SSC-32 as well as the sequencer software to help me generate a walking gait. I have to say, making a biped walk with no prior experience is tough!
Currently I have a very clumsy looking gait that works (barely) and looks something like this:
-Lean to the right
-Lift left foot
-Move left foot forward and use right leg to move torso forward slightly
-Put left foot down
-Shift weight forward and to the left
-Lift right leg
And so on. Is this the right approach? I was really hoping to find an example Scout walking gait, but so far I can’t find anything (if anyone has one they could show me, it would be much appreciated).
Anyhow, learning lots, really enjoying it. My eventual goal is to make this into a Madcat from Mechwarrior. I would then like to enter into the Mech Warfare games. If you don’t know what that is, just watch this:
