My Revolution 6 literally STINKS!

I’ve had my Revolution 6 for several years now, and I’ve recently noted that it quite literally stinks. It has a strong chemical smell and I think the plastic is starting to break down from age and that is what is causing the smell. I’ve put all the parts into a sealed plastic bin and that’s helped to contain the smell, but I’d like to reverse the decay if possible and recover my robot.

Anybody have any similar experiences or advice?

Thanks

@dpayment Welcome to the RobotShop Community.

To confirm: EZ-Robot Revolution Six WiFi Hexapod - RobotShop ?

If so, since the same molds are used for all products, the question applies to all EZ-Robot injection-molded parts. This is the first time anyone has reported such an issue to RobotShop - we’ll see if anyone here reports the same experience. Can’t find anything online either.

That a confirmation. My nose isn’t the best, but I’d guess the smell is similar to acetone

Can you see if the white parts have been 3D printed as opposed to injection molded? You might see some layers. Injection molds should be smooth all over. If that’s the case, and they were 3D printed, acetone is often used to smooth out 3D printed parts and perhaps they did not wash the acetone off well. Just an idea.
