I just bought the Atom Pro 24 and 40. I have the board of education from Parallax. it is wired correctly for the Atom Pro. I got the serial cable from you Usb2s01. I plugged this cable into the USB port in my computer and the other end into the board of eduction. I ran the editor for basic micro. it has a connect switch to push, but only says that there is no Atom attached, but there is. So I cannot use the Atom Pro.
Ah there are some differences in the BOE and other carriers such as our Bot Board II as it pertains to the wiring on the DB9. We have a BOE here and are testing it with an Atom Pro. While we do the test please review this page…

If we are unable to determine the problem you can send us the Atom Pro 28 for testing. We don’t sell the 40 pin chip so I can’t help with that one. We will figure it out.
Testing went well, we were able to program the Atom Pro 28 on the BOE carrier using Basic Micro Studio.
Note that the BOE board with the RS-232 connector requires the latest version of Studio. The BOE board with the USB connector does not work with AtomPros(at least the revision we had, Jim l;et me know what you have, thanks). The USB Boe board uses slow transistors to invert the RS-232 signals from the FTDI chip on the board which won’t work at the speeds we require to connect to the AtomPro. We haven’t found any simple workaround to get the USB BOE boards working.
Ah yes our BOE is the older DB9 version. I don’t have the USB version.
