My board's presence won't be acknowleged by my computer

My new SSC-32U has a problem with it - it simply won’t connect with the servo-sequencer utility that I downloaded from the site! I’m pretty sure that the computer I’m working on is aware of it - when I plug in the cable, it (my computer) makes a sound, and two tiny LEDS on the controller board blink quickly, so I would think that there would be a viable connection between the two. So, it seems, both bits of hardware must know each others presence, yet it doesn’t appear in the “My computer” directory for devices with removable storage, and when I open the servo sequencer utility, the auto light just keeps blinking and never indicates “found”, even after all the appropriate steps are taken. This is even after powering on the Logic Voltage on the SSC-32U, which the PDF manual explained would help. This is extremely annoying, and if you could help me, please do. It would be greatly appreciated.
By the way, we have Windows Wista and the program seems to work flawlessly on it just in case there might be something with the OS on my box.

Hey,

There could be many issues that is preventing your computer form recognizing your SSC32. First, if you could kindly post a picture of your board and power system, I can help you see if there are any issues with your jumpers and connectors.

The things I would consider / think about

]Go to your device manager and see if the COM port is recognized/:m]
]Check your jumper configuration on the ssc32 and see if it matches your computer’s baud rate for that COM port/:m]
]In device manager, under advanced setting, try changing the response time to 1 ms (the lowest possible setting)/:m]
]Ensure that your 9V battery or logic battery is at high capacity /:m]
]On the SSC32, when you first connect it and power it up you should see a green LED light up on the top right. This led will go off when it gets the first bit of the communication. /:m]
Again, if you post a picture I can better help.

Hi,

Good ideas tronicsos!

Since Val mentions a SSC-32U, for point #2 I would recommend having a look at the manual here. Check page 36-37 for an explanation on how to check the baud rate for the SSC-32U. It should be 9600 by default (green LED on, red LED off).

Hope this helps.
