Multi-echo LiDAR

Hi All,

I need a LiDAR to do some distance measurements ans was interested in its ability to capture multiple echos, thus providing DEM and DTM with a single sensor.

The thing is, it is not said in the description of the lidars sold here, if they support multi-echo or not.

I am curious about it. Is it something that has to be implemented in software, or do I need a way more expensive hardware ?

Thanks for your help,
Pistil.

Hi,

For anyone confused about DEM/DSM/DTM, we recommend that you check out this for clarification.

As for the long-range LIDAR products that we offer, if they do not mention that they capture and report multiple echos, then they probably do not as this is an advanced feature that is certainly valuable.

That being said, most of the LIDAR products do have to deal with multiple echos, but this information is used in the sensor to provide proper range information and it not typically exposed to the user through the interface.

Unfortunately, more expensive hardware is most likely required since the processing of multiple echos for the type of data you wish to obtain is different than what is offered by the proucts in our catalog.

Sincerely,
