I have to make a moving butterfly for a wedding cake. I have seen the ones with flexinol actuator wires. This is what I am looking for. Can I just get the wires and battery pack? How do you attach wires to battery pack? I need to make my butterfly from edible paper so I cannot use the fake butterfly shown on most websites. Can I take the fake wings off and adhere my edible wings. Any suggestions?
You can purchase the wire and battery pack alone, but it takes quite a bit of understanding to get it all to work.
The easiest approach as you indicated would be to purchase the complete butterfly and simply swap the wings.
Note that the finished product will have live wire and many parts which cannot be eaten, so making the wings edible may cause issues, and you also may end up with people trying to swallow non-edible parts.
Before cutting or modifying the wings, we suggest getting it up and running to see how it works and behaves.
Having some butterflies fixed and entirely edible which look like the ones which move (same size, shape, coloring) would still create a very nice effect.
