Moves left to right

Hi, when i turn the Rover V2 on with its batteries in, the robot moves left to right by itself. I was wondering why this is?

New to this stuff. First ever robot.

Thanks

Also to add;

Now the board won’t power on with the batteries. Lights are dimmed or come on for about a second and then stop turning on at all. It works via USB though.

When it was moving left to right by itself, it started to smell a little.

Please help, i was using this for a uni project.

Thanks

There is test code loaded on the rover which would ideally make it move forwards then backwards. This means that you need to reverse one of your motor wires.

This likely means that your battery pack is depleted. If you are using AA batteries, be sure to remove the LiPo jumper at the let rear of the board. If you are using a 3.7V LiPo, then be sure to leave it charging for a while.

This should not be the case - if you smelled or saw smoke, something is wrong.

What did you mean by reverse one of the motor wires? I think they just connected on each end as there’s no difference in any of the connections?

See the video @3:28. Notice that you have two leads and two screw terminals.
If you reverse the wires, the motor will turn in the opposite direction.

Thank you, i think its correct now. I used the example code and the “wasd” keys move the rover in the correct direction. So im assuming it all works now?

Correct. Looking forward to seeing what you do with the rover.

Thank you. When I have the rover doing as I plan I aim to share with everyone on here.
