Mounting AL5A Arm on Tri-Track Chassis w/o PS2

Hello,

I’ve been trying to mount an AL5A arm on the tri-track chassis with the DX5e controller/receiver. All the assembly guides on the site seem only to use the PS2 controller. I can’t figure out how to hook up the receiver so that it still has some semblance to the PS2 version and I’d be able to more easily use the sample code on the site.

I’m starting to question whether or not I’m missing some major components, so if you could list the parts I’d need that’d be fantastic.

Thanks a bunch.

PS: If this post belongs under a different section of this forum, sorry, if you could direct me to where it’d be more appropriate that’d be nice.

Hi, Would help to understand a little more what all you have and how you are wanting to hook it up. Are you starting off with a setup like: lynxmotion.com/p-852-tri-tra … or-rc.aspx
My assumption is that you have the RC receiver hooked directly up to the sabertooth.

What electronics did you get with the ARM? SSC-32? Botboarduino? I am pretty sure you will need some form of MicroController like the Botboarduino on the Tri-track to deal with the Arm. My assumption is you will want to control the arm with the RC receiver as well. So it probably implies that you will need then connect some or all of the RC channels to the microcontroller and also connect the Sabertooth also up to the microcontroller. You then may have the option of trying to hook up the arm servos as well to the controller or probably better in this case hook them up to SSC-32 and connect the SSC-32 to the processor.
