Motors - Help.

Hi all,

Im wanting to build a faster bot but im not sure what motor to use, I currently have 2 x 100:1 MFA Como Drills motors on my bot, they are ok but are rather slow even at full speed.

I know I am wanting something of around 30:1 to get some decent speeds, is that correct?

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

For speed, brushless motors

For speed, brushless motors are the way to go.  If you get powerful enough motors with low enough kv (that is krpm per volt) you may even be able to drive your wheels directly.  Many RC cars are only geared 3:1 or 5:1.

These motors will also require a BEC (brushless electric controller) of the right power rating to drive them.  Your bot will need to be running a NiCd/Mh or LiPo battery to provide enough power too.
