Motor Shield for Tamiya Tracked [HELP]

Hi. I’m new on forum and on Arduino World. I mounted an robot sumo with no motor shield and now i want to mount an Tamiya Tracked Car with Arduino.
What Motor Shield is recommended? Thanks.
P.S.: i think i’ll need two motors to cornering with robot. I’m right?

  1. I want to make cornering with the car. I can use this motor? RB-Tam-32

The Tamiya 4-speed double gear box would allow you to steer like a tank (skid steering or differential steering). Therefore yes, you can turn using this gearbox.

  1. What motor shield is recommended to this project? RB-Dfr-04?

RB-Tam-32 operates at a nominal 1.5 to 3V (one or two AA batteries or one 3.7V LiPo battery). RB-Dfr-04 requires 7V to 12V and would therefore not work. You need a very low voltage motor controller such as:

The alternative would be to use the Tamiya Twin Motor gear box and upgrade the motors so you can use a variety of other motor controllers:

We also have a few Arduino-based robots / kits which may be of interest:

Thanks, Coleman. You took all my doubts. I’ll buy the pieces this week.
