Motor selection for new idea

I really don’t know what I want yet
I need some help selecting a small motor.
I need it run approximately 50 rpm but only 1 revolution at a time. Variable speed would be better.
I would like to have a foot pedal to start and a stop the motion.
I would want it to stop automatically in the same spot every time.
I would like to be able to stop before it makes a full revolution in case of problem.
I have attached a crude drawing.
The black cylinder drawing is the motor.
the diameter of the motor shaft could be 3/16", the drawing just shows 1/16"
I don’t know where to start on how to power or run this.
I have a small cnc mill that uses a controller and a computer to run it, would I need something similar to run this motor? Or, is there a simpler way?
Thank you,

What motors are on your CNC? Stepper motors?
Do you have a 4-axis drive ?

You could build your device with a stepper motor (or the same type motor as on your CNC), and simply swap the cables (power off) to switch between CNC and your device.

You can get a stepper motor and a small stepper motor driver board, and run from a program on an Arduio.
