Hi Robotshop,
I would like to ask a few questions regarding the motor selection for my up-coming project. I am planning to build a robot which can carry 10 kg total in weigh (the robot car will have 4 wheels) and can be controlled similar to the robot kit in the following link:
robotshop.com/en/dfrobot-4w … oders.html
The motor I am looking at this 6V DC Motor 10kg/cm, as shown in this link:
robotshop.com/ca/en/6v-dc-m … coder.html
-
Could you please tell me, which wheel (size, type) is compatible to the motor shaft, as well as the motor housing?
-
Which encoder, motor board I need to buy to be able to program and control this motor?
Thank you very much for your help,
Vien.
Hi Vien,
Are you looking to use the RB-Dfr-67 platform or want to build your own with the RB-Dfr-758 motors ?

Hi Eric,
I am looking to build my own platform with the RB-Dfr-758. I believe the kit RB-Dfr-67 is not able to carry 10kg in weigh. I hope you can suggest me with something…
Thanks,
The motor output shaft is 4mm so any wheel hub of that dimension will work.
However, do you have a wheel size in mind ?
We have two nice blog about motor sizing for wheeled platforms HEREand HEREand i think it would be a start point.
Then we might be able to suggest some parts
Hi there, thank you very much for the 2 links that you sent me about the motor sizing. Very helpful!
Now with the wheel, a 5-mm-radius should be sufficient for my application. Could you please recommend me wheel and its accessories to run with the motor RB-Dfr-758. The accessories include motor brackets (housing).
Thank you again,
The motor itself have a diameter of 24.4mm so a wheel of 10mm will not work, the motor will hit the ground first.
My bad! Sorry I meant 5 cm radius wheel. Could you please help me again? Thank you so much.
