Hi, new to this page and sorry if this question is a bit stupid, but I would like to know whether the L293D Motor Driver Shield is able to control 6 servo at once or it can only control 4 dc motor and 2 stepper / 2 servo motor as described on the data sheet? And if i would like to control up to 2 DC motor and 4 servo motor at one time, what device or component should i use?
You really haven’t yet answered ossipee’s question,
which shield as in which one in particular. A datasheet link would be top notch information. A single L293D can drive a single motor at about 1.2A, maybe, 2 motors at about .6A each, or a single stepper motor at .6A/coil(?), maybe.
Servos, like RC hobby servos, require a different kind of input. While they require current to drive the motors, the movement is controlled by a pulsed input. You “might” be able to drive them from the outputs of a motor driver, but, there is no reason I can think of doing so.
Really if all you want to do is drive servos, you don’t even need a shield. You just need to be able to supply enough current to feed the servos and then 6 lines that you can send the required pulsed output on.
