Motor & Controller for snowplow

Hi there
I am new to this forum and like to introduce my project:
I intend to build a RC-controlled snowplow with rubber tracks.

For this, I plan to use two motors with the following parameter:
24VDC, 300W, rated speed 2750rpm, rated current 17A

Since I am not very erperienced, I’d like to ask, what type of controller would be the best?
I found the following:
Sabertooth Dual 25A 6V-24V (RB-Dim-23)
Would this be enough for These Motors or would you recomend me some bigger or smaller Controller?

Thanks a lot for your Support!

Hey!

This controller should be able to drive the motor you chose. But. Are you sure these are brushed DC motors and not brushless or stepper? They require a different driver. A good way of telling, is by the number of cables coming from the motor or you can just tell me the part number and I can check for you!

Thanks a lot for your reply.
It’s a brushed moror.

I think, 2x 300W should be enough for my snow plow. More important will be the weight to avoid the rubber tracks slipping on the ground.

I intend to control the vehicle with my Spektrum DX7.
Does anyone have experience, what Spektrum reciever would be best for my purpose?
Is there any toutorial for the setup of the r/c to controll the two motors with the Sabertooth Dual 25A 6V-24V (RB-Dim-23)?

Hey! Currently the 32A is cheaper (don’t ask me why lol)

Even if the motor is rated for 16A, there’s no clear indication if it’s at max load or without load. You’d better play it safe and take the 2x32.

Thanx!
Don’t matter why, but I fully argee and take the 32A Version.
Are there any tutorials about connecting a Spectrum reciever?

Yup, kind of! On page 19 of this document: https://www.robotshop.com/media/files/pdf/rb-dim-47-datasheet.pdf
It shows how to plug a RC receiver into it!
