I am looking for an alternative to the RB-Sol-03 kit. I’m not sure what exact specifications I’ll need, but the motors will need to move the robot up a small incline.
There are many ways to make your own custom wheel+motor combination (too many to list here, so an example is provided below). The most important features are the speed and torque requirements. Plug in any information you have about your robot into the RobotShop Drive Motor Selection Tool in order to find these values. If you know the Lynxmotion GHM-07 is sufficient for your needs, you then select the corresponding hub (4mm in this case). There are quite a few 4mm hubs available (Lynxmotion, Banebots and others). Next, select the wheel and hub combination that best suits your application. In this case, you might select the Lynxmotion mounting plate and the large foam tires to complete the kit. Banebots has a new line of hubs that fit a wide variety of shaft sizes. These hubs correspond to their wide range of wheels.
A number of manufacturers offer propulsion kits similar to the RB-Sol-03, such as Tamiya and Phidgets.
