personally i don’t feel zenta needs ideas for this. just looking at the engineering and skill, im pretty sure he knows exactly where this is going. Im quite excited to see what he comes up with.
I always appreciate your comments and feedback! The LED’s inside the sphere isn’t on my top priority list. There are so many other mechanical stuff and coding to solve before I start on that.
A few days ago I found a rather nifty way to access the servo power switch, I’ll see if I can post some images of it soon.
@RoboTed: I always appreciate your well-written comments. But the propeller/hexocopter idea belong to CG (computer graphics)… and wouldn’t work in real life.
Zenta, I think I kind of knew that. But if anyone in this world could make it work, you are that person.
Humm…!
Interesting idea… lol
Just kidding
I know you don’t need advise on you project.
But that would be nice…
I’ve just read every page of this whole project, simply amazing. Excellent work!
Thanks, I’m glad you liked it!
Again, this project has been put on hold because of other stuff…
Currently I’m working with a non-robotic project. My wife asked me to build a remotely operated TV-lifter inside an old style commode/cabinet. Finally a cool wife-approved project…
I’m still waiting for one of those…
I managed to get a “Kittie Kam” (wife approved) project. That WiFi camera should come in handy…
Alan KM6VV
That sounds like fun too!
We are also using WiFi cam in our baby-room just for checking (from an Android phone) that all is well when he sleep. I bought two cameras though, the other one should be fun to play with…
TV-lifters are also popular in bedrooms…
I guess I don’t know what a “remotely operated TV-lifter” is!
Alan KM6VV
Same here…
TV is hidden below a surface. Cliko TV lifts up for viewing. Greatly enhanced effect with the new flat screens.
Sounds like fun. I am guessing that you are building it into a low chest of drawers and not into other definitions of a commode…
Kurt
Yes, it is fun! I’m not sure what to call the commode/cabinet, but it is rather low. Not for hijacking this thread I’m thinking of moving this to a general discussion thread. I can post an unlisted video of it when its finished. Any tip on how to move some posts to another thread?
Btw, I’m using a standard lift combined with some custom stuff like a BAP24 and a servo for sliding the top-plate.
Let me see if I got this right:
You are building a morphable sphere where the bottom half walks around your house and the top half opens up to reveal a flat screen TV??
You are going to record all this on a baby-monitor CCTV system?
And your wife approves of all this?
Zenta, you are a lucky man!!
Will Lynxmotion offer a kit?
Hi,
As some of you know I’ve not had much time robotics lately. But today I finally had MorpHex walking and transforming (Sphere - Hexapod - Sphere)! I don’t like to brag but it really look sensational! My 5 year old son started to play with the “ball” as soon as it turned into a sphere, with me very nervously standing beside… And when he started to lift it I had to interfere and take the ball away from him. Btw, the total weight of MorpHex is a little over 4,5 kg, in other words pretty heavy. I’ve noticed some weak spot on the lower sphere parts and that worries me a little, I’ll post more info about that later. There are still some mechanical work left on the upper sphere section but I solved it using a simple temporary solution. I’ll post some pics and a “MorpHex part 2” video as soon as I get time for it.
Thanks for the update. Im really looking forward to seeing this. Yes a hobby like those is certainly more fun when you have kids. And yes i can agree with you that it gets worrying when they get hands on with the robot.
Yes… my son is always on my things… lol
also looking to see that one walk…
Talk about a giant tease! I want video! I Want Video! I WANT VIDEO!
Now that it is no longer summer, hopefully you will have some more time to play!
