Mini-ITX Board info: Phylon/Jetway 7F2WE-2G

Alright, I hope someone can help me out a bit here. I was looking for a faster Mini-ITX board for my SNESpc project, and I found this 2GHz model. Anyone have any information about it? Reviews, etc?

Also, I’ve found the board on two sites - well, at least it looks like the same board. The part number is slightly different, and one site calls it the Phylon and one calls it a Jetway. Am I misunderstanding something?

o Phylon 7F2WE-2G Mini-ITX Mainboard
o Jetway Hybrid J7F2WE2G Mini-ITX Motherboard

I just want to double-check before I make the purchase.

Phylon and Jetway are the board makers, but they both use the same Via C7 2Ghz processor.

One noticable difference is that on the Jetway the heatsink only covers the CPU, but on the Phylon the heat sink covers the CPU and North Bridge (at least I assume it’s the North Bridge - can’t tell in the pics). I’d prolly go with the Phylon.

Hope this helps.

Alright, thanks, that helps. I wasn’t sure if they’d removed the heat sink for the photo on the Mini-Box site - seems like they do that sometimes, because some pictures have heat sinks, and some don’t.

They certainly don’t want to make this easy!

Hopefully no one comes in with any bad news about the Phylon board, because I just ordered it from LogicSupply.

I’ll keep everyone posted on my project’s progress once I receive the board. (It should be pretty easy to finish up!)

I agree with A-bot. I would go with the Phylon

Also notice what they say about cooling requirements:

“Note: Due to considerable cooling requirements, this mainboard is not compatible with most of our Mini-ITX cases. Additional configurations are required in order to maintain a reasonable operating temperature within our standard cases. Please contact one of our engineers at 802 244 8302 for more information.”

This motherboard is going to generate a lot of heat. So you will need to adjust your case design to add extra cooling features.

Yeah, I noticed that, too. I’m going to be adding an extra fan or two for better air-flow. We’ll see how it goes, I guess.
