Microsoft jumps on the bandwagon.
How long will they keep this alive or do you think it will actually take off and innovate?

I hope it crashes and burns.
I think that the .net duino boards have mostly gone away and hope these do as well.
M$ always think they have a better solution. In the past 10 years, they have lost the little real edge they ever had. They are nothing more than CA in my book. Buy the tech they want and crap out new tech thats worse then what it replaces.
Their model does not allow for real open source and the bloated .net framework is not ready for at least hobbist robotics. They could have a hacked up smaller version of the framework though.
I checked out the page
I checked out the page “Starting with .NET Micro Framework” and since I’m currently taking a Visual Basic programming class that looks like a direction I’d like to go although I’m wanting some time to mess with Microsoft Robotics Developer Studio 4. Funny as I’m not really a big fan of Microsoft but they seem to have what I want. Now they just have to deliver. I hate it because I really want to move to Linux and all open source but for me that seems to be uphill compared to Microsoft products falling into my lap.
I am going nuts not being able to step through code and watch results. My programming background is all old XBase database stuff (mostly Clipper) with a little bit of QuickBasic. Don’t know anything about .NET and probably can’t afford Gadgeteer parts anyhow.
Actually the only thing I like is the multiple threads with .NETMF and solid connectivity with Gadgeteer.
