Is anyone available to act as a mentor?
I’ve purchased thousands of dollars of stuff and i cant get it working. i did read the toutorials (over and over and over) but they dont accurately reflect the boards and seem to be missing steps. i cant seem to work it out. nothing on yutube.
I have a fulley assembled 4DOF t-hex that just collects dust. i cant communicate with it. i suspect that either the wiring or jumers are wrong.
its actually a custom but the electronics are identical to the 4DOF t-hex.
been trying to for about a year by the way.
very sad.
Hi,
There are lots of us up here that like to help out. I don’t have that exact set up, but I do have a T-Hex with 3DOF and now a round Hex that I am just about done with to conversion to using T-Hex 4DOF legs… So I can probably help with specific questions.
If you are following a tutorial, it helps if you say, I made it to step X and but I am having problems with step … That way it gives us a good starting point.
It would help if you had pictures showing the boards and the wiring. That way we can more easily see if there is a jumper problem. What are you suing to power the boards? Do you have separate power for the servos and the Logic? Have you downloaded and installed a recent copy of the Basic Micro Studio? What type of serial connection do you have? If it is a USB to serial adapter, which one? Were you able to use it to talk to the SSC-32 to try to set the zero points for the servos? …
So again yes there are many of us up here that will help out.
Kurt
Perhaps you could attend a local robotics/electronics club for some guidance, or just strip it down to the basics (less servos, controllers etc), and start learning from there?
The best type of learning is “self directed”, or as I like to put it learning through stupidity
Can you please let us know what steps you are having problems with? bit confused to why the tutorials dont Reflect the Boards?
You have the SSC-32v2, the Bot Board 2 and the Atom pro28 chip, PS2?
I wasnt expecting such fast replies. thank you very much guys. This forum has suprized me more that one.
First let me answer the questions i was asked;
“You have the SSC-32v2, the Bot Board 2 (BB2) and the Atom pro28 chip, PS2?”
I dont know thats its a v2, just says SSC-32 on the board itself but does have a “V2” written with a sharpy on the chip. So I assume so.
I do have the Bot Board II. Dont remember which chip it was, which ever comes with the 4DOF T-hex kit. I can figure it out if you need me to.
Yes, with PS2.
Seperate power systems. I would love that it took all power from one battery but thats a mission for another day.
I THINK I answered everything was asked. Thank you again for the reply to my mayday. now, as directed, I’lldescribe my confusion…
I’ll go cable by cable. First cable;
The one that connects the SSC tx,rx & ground to the BB2. I cant tell what cables go on what pins! i got
yellow from tx to inner most 10
red from rx to inner most 11
black from ground to what? I cant tell. inner middle 10? nothing?
The PS2 Cable;
The colors shown the tutorial, step 14, exaclty match my colors (except that i have a white joining the black).
but then in the schematic they use different colors, so i cant figure out which cable goes to what pin.
Please post images so we can verify jumpers and wiring issues. Even though you are not using our hardware there are important steps in the assembly diagrams. Have you built your bot the same way as in the assembly guides? Are you able to program the Atom Pro? Where in the tutorials are you, what step?
OK, will do. I’ll figure out how to get images up here and have them up today. thank you.
FYI, I am using youre hardware. I own nothing that wasnt purchased directly from Lynxmotion.
I have built the robot exactly as the assembly guide says to save i used brackets instead of hex stand offs and mounted the boards verticaly. mechanically i dont have any issues (that i know of). Its the wiring thats stumping me i guess. I cant communicate with it…
Im on step 1.
I took this custom comment the wrong way I guess. Yes we are all here to help. We like it when another robot is walking around.
Thanks robot dude
your bidirectional wire from ABB to the SSC is wrong. look closer at the image i posted.
pin 10 = Yellow/Black
Pin 11 = Red
There you go. been playing with different combinations of cables and jumpers all day. no matter what i do i simply cant talk to it.
k. fixed that. thank you. where does the black go? right ubder the yellow one? the middle 10?
black to ground on pin 10
.
please forgive me. which ones ground?
The first mistake I see is the serial connection from the bot board is wrong. It should have yellow and red up by the numbers and the black should be down on the ground row. The schematic in step 14 shows yellow on 10, and red on 11. That would not have anything to do with you not being able to communicate with the bot board from your PC though.
Does the LED come on when power is applied to the bot board?
Does the speaker emit a clicking sound?
